The wine is a brilliant, deep purplish red, with violet hues. The bouquet offers a complex array of aromas: from fruity, attributable to cherry and sour cherry, to elegant and well-integrated peppery and boisée spices, closing with nuances of rosemary and myrtle, typical of the Mediterranean maquis. The entry onto the palate is fresh and vibrant, thanks to a nice acidity that sustains the mouthfeel. Fragrant, with a juiciness characterised by red fruits. Well-rounded tannins are present in the finish which closes with outstanding persistence.

Tenuta di Biserno is a 90-hectare estate situated in coastal western Tuscany, hidden amongst the hills of Bibbona in the Upper Maremma. The beautiful sweeping views across to the Tyrrhenian Sea, towards Corsica, are a constant reminder of its moderating coastal influence. The mineral rich soil of the Bibbona vineyards is planted exclusively, at Marchese Lodovico’s behest, with well-suited Bordeaux varietals, producing three wines, Il Pino di Biserno, the eponymous Biserno and, very rarely, Lodovico. The blends include significant proportions of Cabernet Franc, followed by Merlot, some Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, vintage dependent. Biserno enjoys excellent light, and benefits from perfect exposure to the sun as well as wonderfully cooling sea breezes.

Cabernet Sauvignon is a red wine grape variety that is widely considered to be one of the finest grape varieties in the world for producing high-quality wines, and is the dominant grape in Bordeaux region. The grapes are small, thick-skinned and yield wine that can be very full-bodied with high tannins. It is known for its intense, complex flavors, including blackcurrant, black cherry, and black olive, with notes of cedar, tobacco, and graphite.
Often aging Cabernet Sauvignon wines in oak barrels will impart a vanilla and toast flavor to the wine. It has a high level of acidity and alcohol, and can be enjoyed well after a decade or more. It pairs well with red meats, particularly beef, as well as hard, strong cheeses.
