Essencia is the world’s most concentrated essence of its ripest grapes, it is the ’liquid gold’ that very slowly oozes from a pile of aszú grapes raisined by botrytis and climatic conditions. Deep gold colour with a hint of amber and a very thick texture. Complex fruitiness on the nose, very rich and complex on the palate with hints of green tea and lots of figs and dates. Rich and complex in the mouth with a creamy structure. Taste of candied orange peel with dried red berries and a long-lasting, fresh end with very good acidity.

The fall of communism in Hungary saw many new beginnings, and one of note for wine lovers was the formation of The Royal Tokaji Company by wine-writer Hugh Johnson, and a consortium of foreign investors with the sole vision of revitalizing the magnificent sweet wines of Hungary. The Royal Tokaji Company today is a benchmark for the noble wines of the region, from their 3 Puttonyos wines at around 60-90 grams per litre of residual sugar through to the intense Essencia at 450-850 grams, they are wines that offer the drinker a unique insight to one of the great wine styles of the world.

Yellow Muscat wines, made from Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains grapes, are intensely aromatic with sweet, fruity flavors. They are often enjoyed as dessert wines, featuring notes of orange blossom, rose petals, and ripe fruits. These wines are versatile, pairing well with desserts and spicy dishes.
